During this episode I introduce myself. I discuss my life as a student athlete and what it really means to play a sport on a college campus. I go into detail about why I think sports are so important and crucial to college campuses.

Hello everyone. My name is Makenna Hadden. I am a full time student athlete at the University of Mary Washington. I am a sophomore and I’m from New Jersey. Welcome to my podcast. So on my podcast, we will be discussing sports at the University of Mary Washington and kind of why sports are important on a college campus.
What it means to be a student athlete to me is facing challenges day to day, balancing our academics. and sports while doing something that I completely love. I started playing lacrosse when I was in second grade and I’ve played ever since. I literally fell in love with the sport. I knew Mary Wash was the campus for me as soon as I came because it just felt so welcoming.
The girls on the team were so nice and especially the coach, my coach’s coach tag, she’s the best. Um, so I think that sports at college are very important. I think it gives a great sense of community and really brings out the support of other students. Whether you play a sport or not, I think going to support other students at their games and functions is really important and it gives a great sense of community to the school.
Um, at Mary Wash, we have a great sense of balance between academics and And, sports, which I completely love the professors are so flexible and willing to work with you all the time with your busy sports schedules. Um, which is so helpful as a student athlete. Um, so on this podcast, I will basically be giving a series of me introducing my fellow teammates and getting to know them better while you get to listen.
I’m going to be sharing their experiences. personal and while on the team and some of their favorite memories. So follow along and get to know them with me. Thank you so much for joining my podcast. Bye!
